Nitrogen Monoxide (nitric oxide) - NO is the principal emitted NO_x gas from high temperature combustion in air. This gas can acts a catalyst in the reactions that cause the destruction of ozone. Reacting with ozone and tropospheric radicals, NO is inextricably linked with the polluted urban atmospheric production of NO₂, ozone, and other secondary pollutants such as peroxyacetyl nitrate.
